Dear Luck,
Dearadh, Web Design April 9th, 2007I have to decide by January what I want to do with my life. I’ve always wanted to be a teacher but I’m becoming more and more uncertain. I’ve spent four years learning web design and web development and that is starting to creap up as a possible option. But I’m just not sure.
This summer (after all of the hell the next three weeks are going to be as referenced in the last post) I’m going to begin a sort of test to see if I would like having that as my career. I’m opening a portfolio. The main focus will be web design. I’m going to try my hand at creating an artblog scripting tool, though I have no idea how well that will go (Xuan got me excited about it because he’s going to be my tester on it cuz I told him I’d make him one). I’m also going to open commissions for portrait drawings. It’s not ever going to be a career because I’m not really up for “starving artist” but it could be good as side work. I’m also going to try drawing some generic stuff that people buy like little girls in fields of daisies and puppies and stuff like that. Possibly some celebrities. If those sell (and they’d be cheaper than commission) then I’ll do more.

Interesting test. Let’s see how it goes.
And you’re still young, you have time to decide what you want to do, even though it might ruin everything for you and maybe even your family.
Good luck!

Bwahah. Dearadh … *is excited*
I think that’s the case with a lot of people around the later teenage mark - my cousin’s doing a degree in Education, and she realised just this year, in her third year of the four-year course, that she’s no longer passionate entirely about the vocation. So she’s going to finish her degree, and then pursue something else afterwards. I think, that this could be a time to follow your gut instinct, and see where that leads you.
Because whatever you do in life isn’t concretely defined through what course you do at university or whatever; the essential thing is that we all have time afterwards, and that time could play host to an epiphany that couldn’t have happened beforehand.
We’ll see how the art site goes.
I might have my writing site temporarily there as well, and then move it once my old hostess Lil gets her new domain. Hrm. Decisions, decisions!
Good luck with the portfolio! And keep me updated! I like my potential hostess muchly. ^_^ *hug*
