Dad, Family, Life, Other December 11th, 2007
I think it’s funny. As you get older, your memory changes and you forget things. My dad gets many email forwards from friends and whenever he gets one he likes, he reads it to us. A few months ago he read us one of them. Tonight, in the circle that is email forwarding, he got it again. He read it again. My stepmom and her mom listened again. They responded with the normal responses again. My dad, my stepmom, and my stepmom’s mom all did not remember ever hearing it before. Is that what we have to look forward to?

But maybe it’s a good thing…you’d get to enjoy the same things with fresh pleasure all over again!
Or maybe I should be more afraid of senility than I’ll admit to myself.

My great aunt has dementia and it’s really hard on her. Memory loss is one one the saddest parts of aging, to me, as I personally cherish memories so much. I’m the kind of person who remembers little tiny details from everywhere, especially what I read (comes in handy on history tests), so it’d be really strange to forget stuff. The worst part is that most people don’t even know when it happens to them. :\

You know, this used to happen to me a few years ago. Unlike Courtney, I really could not recall events or things that I’ve done… it used to annoy my parents and friends because I couldn’t give an accurate account. When they’d ask me, my mind would draw a blank.
There’s this theory which explores the possibility that maybe the reason why we don’t remember or can’t recall certain things/events is because at the time of reading/hearing/experiencing them, our mind doesn’t give it importance and so only imprints it superficially into our memories.
That’s what I’ll tell myself when I’m older anyway. =)

hahaha! that’s hilarious xD I completely agree.
well I’m glad I have a talented writer who likes my essay. several people started a petition, all of them were stopped and threatened even though it says in our rulebook we can petition against a student’s expulsion/suspension. so. my school system is retarded.

Actually I always think about memories and always save things to keep for memories, things that can be anything. I still have a bunch of stuff from long ago that brings back many memories.
Heres a song you guys might like about memories:
